AArgh... The damn dorm cafateria pulled a fast one on me and I didn't even see it coming.
Had a case of horrible horrible food poisoning last saturday night. Bleagh... And I'm 100% sure it was the mushroom soup. Damn soup; that's sad though, it's one of my favorite but after this last encounter I'm probably not going to touch that stuff for a while.
Bleagh.... and I'm still recovering. Was unconcious for more than half of sunday and my stomach still feels like it's got a ton of bricks in it.
Just survived a day of one ass raping paper and one ass raped paper. Yeah, I mean one paper was really hard and the other was really easy. 1 more paper to go and tons of Sai Kang till I leave this place.
*argh* I want to go home but I don't want to leave my car behind. sad...
Maybe if I could take it with me....

Hee. Got a car last tuesday. I consider myself extremely lucky cos' it's more or less my dream car, the seller was nice enough to change the floor mats and other stuff before he sold it to me and I came at a really good price.
And no, I'm NOT going to put pink ribbons on it, Jo.

RDOC #56

I just managed to do 12 consecutive throws and catches with 5 balls. A new record!!
I got somebody to film me while I was doing some stuff with three balls and I realised after looking at it that I've come a long way since coming here. I can actually look pretty professional and pull off some nice tricks with 3 balls, something I couldn't do when I first came here.

Just 11 days till I come home. Counting down the days already... Feels just like those days when I was about to leave the army, or leave Singapore to come here. Time sure flies, doesn't it?

*sigh* exams coming in a few days too.

Inn-sewer-ants

I just thought of Terry Pratchet today while I was looking for something. In one of his stories there's this guy with a wierd occupation that involves betting with someone that he won't lose his property. So if he loses the guy who lost his property wins the bet and gets money. He didn't have a word for it in the language, and the closest approximation was inn-sewer-ants. It took a while for the penny to drop.

Car insurance here has a very wierd way of judging how much to charge a person. They ask wierd questions like "what's your GPA?" or "what colour is your car?". Apparently if your GPA is above 3, there's a discount for you. Well, let me ask you, if I'm a REALLY kan cheong spider I'll probably get all my work done way ahead of time, do well in exams but freak out at the wheel if I'm driving; so in this case the question about GPA doesn't tell you how safe a driver I am does it?

Oh.. I didn't mention earlier. If you haven't guessed I'm going to get a car here. 1998 Subaru Outback. Nice black colour, complete with roof racks for my skis. *excellent*

Was highly amused last night by a little conversation with my hall mate James.
He was playing Sacred on my computer (it wouldn't run on his) and I came along and picked up my juggling balls from my desk. Then I noticed they were a little warm. So here goes
Kai: James, have yoiu been playing with my balls?
James: What??????
Kai: They're warm...
James: Ooohhhh. (Pause) Kai, don't EVER ask me such a question again, and add to it the reason you asked that question!!!

I appear to be slowly influencing my american friends. They're now starting to unconciously inject Singlish phrases into their everyday conversation. A few days ago JJ was hanging out with his friend the whole night and basically just lazing around. When asked what he did that night later he replied "oh, I was just talking cock with this friend of mine the whole night so...."

*Excellent* Today, the university. Tomorrow, the World. Hahaha

RDOC #52

I've been slacking a lot lately, as evidenced by the less than frequent new blog entries.
Just found a new game called Sacred that's so similar to Diablo 2 it's almost scary. I think what they did was to take the old game, invent a new story and make whatever changes to the rules and gameplay that they wanted. Whatever the case it's much better and about just as addictive. You get the picture.

There's a lecturer strike today. They're lobbying for higher pay and I have to admit, some of the greviances expressed by them are valid, though if they do get their way we'll all be paying much higher school fees. They're currently gathered outside all the major buildings holding signboards and handing out fliers. It's interesting to note here that the attitude of the administration is that they strongly discouraged such actions but they took no steps to prevent it, other than trying to speed up negotiations and sending out emails saying this was wrong. I was thinking here, that in Singapore the riot police would have been mobilized by now.
Like it or not, the lecturers union is a powerful group and the heavy handed approach that would have been adopted in Singapore would probably not have worked, given the laws and attitudes of people here.
