graduation
Yep. As they say, I've just completed yet another important phase of my life, the formal education part that I've spent the better part of the last 19 years doing.
So they say, now you have your degree, what next? Well, as Christiane Amanpour put it in her speech at our ceremony, you have the tools to do whatever you want, be aware of what's going on around you, be proactive and always ask yourself, what can I do to make this world better? And don't be afraid of setbacks, rather, use them to spur yourself to greater heights.
Well, that's what she said in a nutshell, as I interpret it. It was done far more eloquently yesterday and she got a long standing ovation from the crowd. (Which is more than what I can say for some of the other speakers that day)
So it was slightly sad saying "gratz, we'll keep in touch" with a lot of my american friends, knowing full well that we're now going on seperate paths, and even though we may keep in touch through email and whatever, we're not likely to meet again for a long time. And suppose we do, we're all going to be very changed people.
As a comparison, thinking back to when I left JC and now where I am and all the rest of my friends are, I think it's safe to say the changes that will happen in the few years after college are going to be just as big if not bigger.
So that is that, and if we all somehow actually decide the reunion that they're inevitably going to organize a few years down the road there's no telling where any of us are going to be.

So this talk about the US planning throwing nukes at Iran and Iran allegedly planning to throw nukes at nobody-knows-who had me thinking about this little flash clip I saw a while back. (see it here) I'm thinking the sooner we get that monkey off the presidential post the better it will be for everyone. (Somebody go give him a blowjob or something so we can impeach him)
Anyway if you haven't seen my Msn nick lately, I've been rejected by Berkeley so I'm going to have to be a stick in the mud and stay here for my masters. It's not a bad prospect, but Berkeley would have been a far more interesting place to go to. (California, San Francisco, crazy Berkeley people, etc) Academia wise we're not too far behind Berkely in the department I'm in so mrrvvvvtttt....
What else? Exams coming up, graduation, etc, etc y'all know the drill. Gotta figure out some places to bring my parents to when they're out here. Ain't much to see here in Michigan though
